Tres roques conforman un lugar rodeado de magia, en los altos de la isla. Juntos representan la unión perfecta entre el paisaje natural y el paisaje cultural del Bentayga, pleno eje espiritual del mundo aborigen de Gran Canaria.

El Centro de interpretación contempla una exposición museográfica que desgrana la cultura y los ritos más importantes de la cultura prehispánica junto a un espacio singular, que aún guarda los lugares de culto, enterramiento y arte rupestre de los primeros habitantes de la isla.

Si se acerca hasta allí, y hace el recorrido hasta la base del Roque Bentayga, podrá bucear por las antiguas formas de vida de los aborígenes isleños. Con información rigurosa, accesible a través de la tecnología, en una propuesta moderna que busca explicar la simbología del conjunto de piedra de las cumbres de Gran Canaria, contando todo lo que representa para la cultura, la etnografía y la propia naturaleza de la isla.

Tras la visita al centro de interpretación del Bentayga, podrá hacer el recorrido hasta el Almogarén, lugar de culto a las divinidades en la época aborigen, situado en un saliente de la cara este del roque.

Y como gran escenario de fondo, el patrimonio natural que permite sumergirnos en nuevas formas de mirar el entorno, en plena Reserva de la Biosfera de Gran Canaria.

Three rocks make up a precious and magical site, right up at the island’s summit area. Together they represent the perfect union between the natural landscape and the cultural landscape of the Bentayga, right on the spiritual axis of the aboriginal world of Gran Canaria.

The Visitors Centre sets out a graphic museum exhibition which delves deep into the most important culture and rites of the pre-hispanic inhabitants in a quite unique setting. To this day it preserves the worship areas, burial areas and cave art of the first dwellers on the island.

Visitors who come here and take on the route to the base of the Roque Bentayga, can go deep into the ancient life and times of the aboriginal islanders. With rigorously researched information, accessed through technology, it is a modern day display that attempts to explain the symbolism of the set of stones high up on the summit of Gran Canaria, recounting as it goes everything that represents the culture, ethnography and the whole nature of the island itself.

Having been to the visitors centre at the Bentayga, visitors may then like to go on to the Almogarén, a worshipping site to the Gods of the aboriginals’ era, protruding out of the eastern side of the rock.

And as a spectacular backdrop to all this, there is the natural heritage of the surrounding landscape, with superb views to be had at the heart of the Biosphere Reserve of Gran Canaria.

Die Ausstellung im Besucherzentrum bietet interessante Informationen über die Kultur und Riten des prähispanischen Volkes. Nahebei in der überwältigenden Landschaft liegen die Kultstätten, Gräber und Höhlenmalereien der ersten Inselbewohner, die die Zeiten überdauert haben.

Wer sie erforschen möchte, kann auf dem Weg zum Fuß der Felsnadel des Bentayga in die Welt und das Leben der aboriginen Grancanarier eintauchen. Wissenschaftlich recherchierte, durch moderne Technik zugänglich gemachte Erkenntnisse suchen nach einer Deutung der Symbolik, die der Felsanlage auf den Berggipfeln von Gran Canaria zugrunde liegt, und ihrer Bedeutung für die Kultur, Ethnografie und Natur der Insel.

Nach der Besichtigung des Besucherzentrums Bentayga empfiehlt sich eine Wanderung bis zum Almogarén. Die Kultstätte befindet sich an einem Felsvorsprung auf der Ostseite des Felsen und diente der Verehrung der aboriginen Gottheiten.

Und die grandiose Landschaft des Biosphärenreservats von Gran Canaria im Hintergrund inspiriert uns dazu, die Welt aus anderen Augen zu betrachten...
